NF draining your money reserves?
Rather long, so bear w me
It's pretty expensive to get a character through a new campaign: skills, armor, weapons, and runes will set you back quite a bit. However, NF is a lot more expensive than past campaigns.
The hero system and the the armor insignia system are the two main reasons.
Most pve'rs went for the +energy armors in past campaigns. However, now u need to buy a radiant insignia (5k?) for each piece of armor to get the same effect.
Then, if you want your heroes to be at their best, you have to buy them runes for their armor which gets pricey. Their weapons aren't expensive if you just use collector stuff (wands, offhands, and shields). But warrior and ranger weapons and staves from collectors come w/o mods, so u have to spend a bit on a cheap green or non-max mods.
If you'd like your heroes to have insignias on their armor, that will set you back a good amount as well.
If you put a major vigor rune on each hero and get them runes and insignias as well as good weapons, your looking at spending around 10k per hero. With 15 heroes that works out to 150k. If you want to outfit them really well with max everything, then you're looking at about 20k to 50k per hero.
Only the dedicated farmers can afford to do this. I thought GW was about money not making a difference in performance, only in terms of looks. But the new system makes it so that the uber rich can outift their heroes with sup vigs, radiant or survivor insignias, and max stats weapons. Those extra HP and energy and perfect weapons do make a difference which doesn't seem fair to me.
I'm thinking of outfitting one character's heroes pretty well and leaving it at that. The rest of my characters' heroes won't get much. I just don't think that having large amounts of money should mean better performance in a game like GW. It seems antithetical to their original views on accomodating the casual player (or players that don't like to farm).

The biggest hit to my funds was buying new skills (curse you, UAS addiction!), and armor. New chapters always do that though, so I had a decent amount saved.
I don't think large amounts of funds matters too much - my heroes are equipped in chest-dropped items and minor runes, and I certainly don't need white dyed 15k to complete the game. Especially as PvP characters are so much more complete now, more money is only a slight advantage in PvE - where it is barely noticeable, in my opinion.

Well I got through all of Nightfall without teaming with any real people. All my heroes use GOTY bonus weapons and random junk drops; none of them have any runes or insignias. If I can do just fine like this, I'm not bothering spending any cash on them
I spent about 106k on my dervish armor and 31k on a green scythe (once I can catch the seller online..). I don't intend to buy any other new armors and although I too like to UAS; I usually don't do it til right before the next campaign comes out so I got time to get more money.

If you want something, you're going to pay for it. You don't need to leet-out your Heroes. You can do fine with collector gear and salvaged insignia. If you find runes along the way, that's a bonus. I haven't touched storage, and all my Heroes are runeless. I'm fine with that.
I understand your point, that rich people will have a slight advantage, but we're not competing here. If somebody wants to spend 150K on henchies, that's their business, and of no concern to me.

What's 200k when you have 1.5 million in savings.
farming in your spare time pays off when new chapters come out.

I actualy have 9K more than when I started, haven't farmed or done any running (chest or no)
Why have I spent so little? because I have taking advantage of how the collectors are now labled on the map. Previously both campaigns I started late so the economy was back to balance, the surge in players buying EVERYTHING for new characters and heros has caused a massive surge in the economy forcing almost everything through the roof.
As for skills, well I only buy skills I will actualy use. So I have only bought about 7 skills so far.
Has this made the game more difficult for me? Not really, I have reached level 20 and have only died three times.

Down 60ish k after buying a 15k set, also gained a lot of money so far.
Seem a few Solospots already, so I'll need to bring a char over and complete certain parts of the game for more money...
Biggest chunk will be getting UAS, and also Skill Hunter title on my Ranger. Think Anet should lower the cost of skills through PvE as well after they double the Balthasar Faction gain in PvP...

I spent around 100k on all my heroes... bought them all green stuff or crafted blue weapons (<10k and outfitted them with runes since your not gonna chop and change them its a worthwhile spend if you you happen to use heroes to micro manage (its hard but easier if you can make your primary character sort of a minimal character that you can set to target and forget).
The heaviest cost was the price of runes... most weapons I already had from my other characters.

They don't even need that. I was in Vabbi I think before I realised Koss still was fighting with a Starter Sword and Shield.

Actually I'm around +100k than before NF. Spent ~45k on skills, standard Elonian armor (imo the only armor that looks good on male para). I got everything back by selling 2 endgame scythes.

Down about 200k but I've bought two sets of primeval, black dye, and opened about 100 chests.

i pimped out my heros with greens and golds i had aquired over the last 5 months. i give them loot runes that i salvage, i sell the rest to the rune trader or give to guildies. as for my Dervish, he is totally spoiled.
10 starter armor, 55 armor, 1.5k elonian, 15k elite sunspear, Vabbi gem armor.
had some gems saved, bought runes when they were in stock and cheap, bought a few gems, 2 black dye (elite sunspear hood & skirt, brown shoes, green/blue vest, red arms), 4 white dye (Vabbi hood, shoes, vest, arms). used green, red and brown dye i had already.
Started out with right around 500-526k. Now i have like 260k.
havent bothered with trying to farm any in the old campaigns while playing thru nightfall since the nerfs. im not an ecto or black dye hoarder and i dont buy n sell 24-7. made all i got over a 3-4 month period of total solo & duo farming with a couple of sells here and there.

I had 50K at the start of nightfall, but atm i have only 40K left...
I've bought a max dervish armor (just one of those 1K things) and a few skills, but it drains my money very fast... i don't even have all insignia's yet (only those which i salvaged)
My heroes are still whacking around with some random stuff i've found on the ground...
Why can't we simple have the "pvp equipment creator" but then for heroes?
And no one would have to search/buy the perfect equipment, but it would be customized to them

I actually thought I was making money just playing the game normally in Nightfall. I'm selling all of my insignias and runes to the trader and making a tidy sum. Even elite skill capping and opening chests hasn't dented my stash. I wasted all of my hero skill points on useless skills but now that I know I can use them to buy free skills for my character I won't even need to spend cash for my primary now.
I want to craft new armour sometime but by the time I get room in inventory I expect insignais and such to be a lot cheaper. My heroes just get all of the junk and greens from Tyria and Factions lying around inventory.
